I think it'll be a good one.
I was so burned out from being a doctor for so long. I'd thrown everything I had into it, until there wasn't anything left to give. But retirement isn't bad.
I'm hoping to use my cattleman's experience to some benefit, maybe looking after places for folks who are gone. I'm too beat up to do horseback work or flanking calves, but I can still do most of the rest. Shoot, I don't know too many people who have delivered full breech, or even "stargazer" breech calves (butt first, belly up!)without a vet. I'm banged up, but not dead yet!
I know what you mean about the frustrations of the business aspects of writing. You and I know some of the same crooks. But the fulfillment that comes from writing is hard to quantify. It is significant. Your books are timeless, and the reader base will grow slowly, as the stories are powerful enough to speak to many generations of readers. Keep preachin', Brother Ainsworth. Your congregation may not be too big, but it is damn sure loyal!
Poor ol' broke ass DocDoc Turnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03771622965389391657noreply@blogger.com
